Volunteering: Your Gift of Time

We often think giving is just about money. It's so much more than that and giving time can make a tangible and essential difference to a small local charity like ours. We rely on our volunteers to enable us to exist as a service. There are so many different ways you can gift your time. No matter how little or how much time you have to gift, you can make a difference.

What Next?

1/ Decide how much time you have to gift. Would you like to be called on for one off events or have you an hour or a day a week to spare.

2/ Decide what you would be interested in doing. We have so many things that volunteers can get involved in. Do you want to help out at events? Would you like to do thankyou baking which can be done at home? Would you like to help out with the quarterly newsletter? Do you have fundraising or marketing skills that we could benefit from? These are just a few of the ways you can volunteer.

3/ Get yourself on our volunteer database. Complete our volunteer application form and that way you can be contacted when our need matches what you can offer.

4/ Check out our newsletter and website for volunteering opportunities that might interest you.

Share your skills

Do you have professional skills that could help us achieve our goals? Do you have some spare time to help us with data entry? Do you have an interesting topic that you could share with our clients at one of our client luncheons (eg: cake decorating)? Do you have creative hands and have items we could use in raffles or as prizes at events? Please call us at the office if you'd like to share your skills: 07 571 3346.

Volunteer Opportunities

Chemo Ward Companion

Join our roster for providing morning and/or afternoon tea to those patients going through chemotherapy treatment at the Tauranga Hospital Cancer Centre on 20th Avenue. You may be able to do it once a week or it may be once a month - it makes the world of difference to those at the centre on the day! Call the office if you would like to know more: 07 571 3346.

Event Helpers

During the year and (particularly in October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month) we have many events and activities planned to promote awareness of breast cancer in our community and raise vital funds to help us continue to support local people with breast cancer. If you are interested in helping us with a stand, holding a collection bucket, marshalling the crowds or blowing up balloons then please call the office on 07 571 3346 to discuss.

Thank you Bakers

Do you enjoy baking? Want something you can do from home to contribute? We have so many generous sponsors and donors and while they ask for nothing in return we like to be able to say thank you – what better way than home baking?
